Even though…

James 2:14. What Doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith and have not works? Can faith save him?

Faith can not justify the sluggish hand. What I mean by this is that we can’t be reliant on people who have a lot of money and work hard for it every day.

We have glorified slothfulness and we don’t love it when things don’t come our way as a result. We don’t like when our affirmations aren’t noted and our tithes aren’t congratulated. There is no gain in empty faith.

I’ve been thinking about this all morning. I picked up a book about publishing and how to make books marketable and as I read and currently read my mind travels to my prayers…” Lord give me direction…I trust you.” There’s nothing wrong with this but how would I know he was planning on using this book to guide me if I kept putting it off? The kicker was that In my head I was like I don’t need this, God got me! When I kept feeling the need to read, I ignored it until it hit me “we’ve got to do better.” “We have to be more intentional about this, right now it seems as if I’m still hiding, afraid to share the message that’s crucial to this generation. I'm waiting but I’m not preparing for what I’m waiting for.” I'm claiming faith but not putting it into action. Where I am vs where God wants me to be doesn’t come without work. Growing is important. Learning is important.

What good is it to be all talk and the result of your words falls short because you refused to act?

Hebrews 11:32-40. “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: and others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.”

We have to be intentional and we have to move in our waiting. We have to be patient and steadfast constantly seeking God and his desire. We have to be submitted and open to be used. Faith and action are two in one, joined at the hip.

We can't be afraid to be stretched and uncomfortable. The process is what molds us. We all need to be molded in order to grow and have room for what it is that God wants to perform in our lives.
